Maharashtrian Paithanis are known for luxurious pure silk, intricate designs, buttas, borders and most notably, the pallu. Filled with unique and traditional motifs, the rich pallu is a shimmering sight to behold. Interweaving threads of pure silk and zari create dazzling imagery on the pallu and borders, with a characteristic oblique square design. Paithani handloom sarees can take anywhere from 2 months to 2 years to make, due to the meticulous craftsmanship and precision. Note how the Pallu looks the same from the back and front - a sign of immense skill. This masterpiece is meant to be cherished.
